Office of Development and Planning

Overview

The Office of Development and Planning (ODP) is responsible for the development strategic planning, education career planning and related policy research. The work of the office is broad and includes the following aspects:

1.    Policy research and advice

One of the ODP’s central responsibilities is to provide high-quality, constructive and viable advices to make decisions concerning the university’s reform and development by following closely the development trend of higher education athome and abroad, and by focusing on issues concerning the university’s development and policies. The ODP also deals with important affairs within the development of the university by proposing solutions and providing advices in acomprehensive and overall manner. Apart from taking the lead in running the pilot project of China’s educational structure reform, the ODP also has the role of drafting important documents, reports and other papers assigned by the university presidents.

2.    Formulation and implementation of planning

Another responsibility of the ODP is making the mid-term and long-termdevelopment strategies and the overall development plan of the university. The mission of the ODP is to develop strategic  planning, acting as a steering group for the university’s discipline construction and planning, as well as the committee’s secretarial body for development and planning. Except for assisting other departments in developing plans concerning human resource and campus planning, the ODP also directs and assists different faculties in mapping out future plans. On top of these plans, the ODP exploresand coordinates important issues that may occur in the process of plan implementation, and endeavors to establish connections between the university’sannual plan and future plans.

3.    Key projects Management

The ODP’s third function is to organize and manage different construction programs of “211 Project” and “985 Project”. In addition to provide assistance in directing the work of project reportingand management for “Plan 2011”, the ODP is responsible for carrying out works as far as the budget, the  allocation, and the management are concerned. It also supervises the fund for the discipline construction project.

4.    In addition, be responsible for other Comprehensive, globaland progressive works assigned by the university’s presidents.
